On my car it controls the headlights, headlight height, side lights, instrument dimming, front / rear fog lights, it has to be reprogrammed to the cars chassis number if you change it for a second hand one, otherwise you get an ERR message on the high line instrument display. I changed mine because the headlights height adjustment developed a mind of it's own.
