I don't know about a new petrol engine but I was talking to one or two exhibitors at the NEC who after test drives were singing the praises of the new diesel engine fitted to the MG6.

Pity they are not bringing an auto version into Britain especially as almost all the left hand drive MG6's for the Chinese market are autos.

I quite like it, has grown on me since I saw the original design patent application; looking at the new MG3 Sport, it seems the front end will follow a common design trend. Don't forget it's a facelift, not a complete new model - the interior has better plastics and other materials, and they've ironed out some ergonomic (and software) lapses from the original models, but do bare in mind some of the changes present are actually already in the 2014MY Chinese MG6, the UK version hasn't received any changes at all since the 2012MY cars (and even then they we're very light), so should hopefully be substantial enough to warrant the change over here at least.

As for the engine, 1.4 VVT Turbo (I suspect it's the SAIC/GM SGE unit) or something along them lines, 160'ish BHP but better economy than the 1.8 K. No K-series engined cars now

Later on, a 2.0 Turbo will be available (currently under development in Brummy land as I understand).

As to release date in the UK... Let them sell the remaining stock of 2012 cars before we get to that

Here's some shots of a pre-production model from China... ignore the 17's, the Chinese love small wheels!!

Quite a nice facelift - really keen to see whether there will be another Magnette edition and how it might incorporate the new design.

P.S., these cars are crying out for a duplex as standard!

They probably don't meet emissions regulations over here.

The car is definitely fresher and more up-to-date but some of the details are over-fussy and don't necessarily improve the car. The update beneath the skin will be far more interesting.
