Well - the law have been and gone - no sign of the 'lodger' being back, so I can only assume that he's at her Majesty's Pleasure at the moment

It's obviously NOT my day - got my RAC breakdown cover renewal notice this morning - which I originally took out whilst I was member of the Camping & Caravanning Club. As I am no longer a member of that Club, I thought I'd better ring the RAC and check what effect my non-member status had on either the cover or the premium. Explained the situation in about two sentences to the RAC help-desk - and then ensued 20 minutes of absolute lunacy:
First response from the person at the other end:
"is your car more than 7 metres long Sir?"
"er no - about 4.75 I think - why?"
"is your caravan more than 5 metres long Sir"
"er yes - a large proportion of caravans are"
"we haven't sent your renewal invitation out yet Sir"
"er - how come I'm holding it in my hand then - complete with a new plastic membership card?"
"what is the policy number please Sir?"
"8000 - 5754400"
"That's not your policy number Sir - I don't know what that number is"
"It's the number which is printed on your renewal notice next to the words 'policy number' "
"That number isn't on our system Sir"
"Well you obviously need a new system - BECAUSE THAT'S THE NUMBER ON YOUR LETTER WHICH YOU SENT ME" (I'm getting a bit irritated now )
"I'll put you through to my supervisor Sir"
"Does that mean I have to repeat all the information I've given you ??"
"Oh no Sir, I'll relay that on to my supervisor"
2 minutes pause whilst the phone bill is mounting, at about the same rate as my temperature AND temper.
"Hello Sir, my name's Paul - I'm a supervisor - how can I help you?"
"Well - has your colleague explained the problem to you?"
"No Sir - would you like to explain it to me?"
"NO NO NO - I would NOT like to repeat it all over again - what I WOULD like you to do is cancel my renewal - and if you still take the direct debit from my bank account, I will come down to Bristol and remonstrate with you personally"

Slam!!

By this time - Angela's got tears streaming down her cheek and simply cannot stop laughing

WEll following on from my post this morning being the weather is being kind with beautiful sunshine got round to fixing the aerial on the old car,

First its gone all limp and hanging down.(no sniggering at the back)

Had to make a new collar as the original had snapped.

Its now erect. (no I have not been playing with the Knob.

As the old radios were a bit new in cars the aerial is directional to get a good signal.

Now I play with knob from inside the car.

.

CARRY on LISTENING sounds apt.
