Spennymoor Co. Durham
Sorting out some old paper work I noticed my TricityBendix cooker is 14 years old this week.
It has been 100% reliable and was built at the old Electrolux works at Spennymoor. Got me thinking about why we go to POL, to celebrate cars built at Longbridge as well as the people who built them and how, just like Longbridge, the people of Spennymoor lost a livelihood because of a short term management policy. So if any club members worked at the Electrolux plant, I'd like to give a big thank you from someone who appreciates British workmanship. |

Ha, yes, lots of 'school friends' worked there. That area was very much local jobs for people, school leavers going straight into apprenticeships. Back in the day I had family work at the Black and Decker factory just across the road too...
