Default dashcam - best one on the front or rear

Hi guys,

I've got the dashcam for the navall 1 in my car and just bought the ambarella 0805.

The 0805 has much better quality picture then the navall one. So I started wondering... where would you put the best camera? Front or rear? And why? I'd like to read your motivation.

I can think of arguments for both....

I sorted the problem out by buying two good cams one for front and rear.
Mines a Navall 2 camera though, got fed up of never knowing if it was going to work or not.
Not what you really need if there is an incident that's needed recording.

Id always put the best on front. Purely because at the front people can drive off quicker if they want to make a getaway but from the rear they would have to reverse then drive away giving more time for the camera to do its work.

It could happen that someone side swipes you and drives off in the other direction but in most eventualities it will be the way described above.

My Mrs had this to say:

Put the best in the front.
Because it's really hard to convince the police if somebody just walked in front of your car. In it will help to convince the insurance company in has of rear ending the guy in front of you, hitting a car that shoots in front of you from a side street etc.
The front is usually the side where damage is created by yourself (?)

Then 10 minutes later; put the best in the rear.
Somebody who hits you front the back might think he got away with it by quickly driving off. Somebody might smash into you and you need to show the police.
The rear is usually the side where damage is created by others (?)

My dual front rear has the best resolution at the front, so I will say front. Most of the more serious accidents happen at the front of you and begin at a distance, plus its the way you are going - so again front.

Those who hit and run will usually try to escape by out running you, so again front.

Many of the no fault accidents will be where you are rear ended, but a lower res rear camera will cope with that well enough.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

My dads motor has a great piece of safety gear attached to the front... Bull bars. Many fools think twice when they see a fully off road prepped Defender hurtling towards them :p
