Engine Immobilisor Light

I had this warning light come on today, took the kids out stared the car up okay,
Drove down the road 500 yards or so light came on , stopped the car turned ignition off,
Restarted the engine, no warning light came back.
Any ideas anyone???

I think you mean engine management light, EML. Normally comes on through emissions out of range.

Sounds like it's temporary and not something to worry about. Just monitor the situation and if it re-occurs then worth plugging a fault code reader in and seeing what is going on.

No! I do mean engine Immobilisor Light, it has an engine symbol with a diagonal line through it.

Sorry that one doesn't light up often. Possibly the EWS has lost communication with the key.
