Radiator fan not working
I have just done the demist test on my radiator fan, its a 2002 cdt, I am sure it is the older type, not working. Unfortunately I am heading for Glasgow on Friday then down to Harwich for the ferry to Holland to pick up a small Eriba caravan, small or not I would think a cooling fan would be needed. Having said that I have had the car for a few weeks and no sign of overheating, in fact the opposite I have just got an inline thermostat for it. What are my options? reconditioned fan, new, aftermarket, how easy difficult to fit, I am ok with the mechanics but not so hot on electrics, anywhere in Glasgow I could get one fitted, would an aftermarket job be easier?

Hi, i recently had my front bumper off to change resistor, and its suprisingly simple to do if you have to, you'll find lots of threads and how to's covering this problem if you use the google search option above the welcome on forum lists, i'm sure some one with more hellp will come along soon, you posted very late, not sure pulling a light caravan will give you a problem though, engine doesnt tend to use fan except in extreme cases i believe. sure someone with caravan will let you know if youll get away with it,good luck with your trip.

The earlier type can often be repaired, but then may not last long term. Another option is an aftermarket fan from Jules. These are tried and tested and I'm sure would come with clear fitting instructions. You are quite right that these engines do run cool and overheating isn't usually a problem in our temperate climate - I fitted a single speed fan from a Rover 214 years ago and it is still working fine. |

Thanks all for the replies, don't think I will risk it, will phone Jules this morning and get a new Revotec one, and start taking the bumper off while I wait for it to arrive.

Whilst you have the front end off, some other pointers could be useful........
