Watching our MP's on TV is embarrassing in the extreme, as they all act like overpaid, pompous, arrogant, public school boys, and spend 90% of their time trying to score points off the other party's.

The other 10% of their time is spent deciding which of their ex member buddies to appoint to the house of "lords".. (freeloaders) innit...

It’s a funny thing, about politics and politicians. Every government has a large proportion of free-loaders and financial opportunists that soak the public purse for personal gain, or political advancement, or both. They do it regularly and deliberately, seemingly without embarrassment or recall. No one particular party does it any more than another, they are all equally as guilty as each other of feathering their nests.

From local councillors in cahoots with building companies to county councils awash with pompous professional committee types building empires, to MP’s lording it, to European time servers and bribe takers. They all have crooks and perverts among them, usually well known for their personal and professional habits and failings, but kept secret until someone blows the whistle. That’s when the massive cover up starts. There are a few, a precious few, who are honest and hard-working, but most seem to succumb to the temptations of office after a while.

Oh, for the 19thC days of Whigs and Tories when we were governed by our betters, those with the private means of support that put them beyond bribery and corruption, men of true valour and honour who entered politics in the interests of Public Service and who at least knew how to behave in public, if not in private. We all knew our place then.
