Default Best Leather Cleaner?

Hi guys

What does everyone use to clean their leather? The seats in the car I just bought need a very aggressive fettle. The eighty odd chap I got it off has let them get grimy, but not damaged.

Cheers

The leather seats are sealed & non absorbent, so you could use warm soapy water to get the real grime off, then Gliptone cleanser & conditioner to restore that lovely leather smell

For really grimy seats I found Astonish leather cleaner hard to beat. Gliptone as already mentioned for dressing it afterwards.

My seats and steering wheel were quite grubby when I got the car; on the advice of someone on here I used a vanish stain removal soap bar with warm water and a soft nail brush. It worked very well on both the leather and the plastic trim.

Give the seats a good wipe with warm water and a microfibre cloth. Then clean and finish with a proper leather cleaner. I use Dr Leather. It is absolutely fantastic stuff. Having used several different kind of leather cleaners over the years, this is the best I've used. A lot of the high end detailers use this too. Not the cheapest stuff, but excellent.

Try and use proper leather cleaners if you can. The pigmented leather in these cars, which are covered by a lacquer, can get damaged (unseen) by using the wrong products. Usually it's the lacquer that gets worn down by wear, or by harsh chemicals - thus leaving the pigment colour prone to rubbing off quicker than it should.

By using the right stuff and every few years giving them a mist of solvent based aerosol lacquer (or liquid water based, rolled on) - will make them keep their colour indefinitely.

Hope this helps!

Default Furniture clinic

Hi,
I tried the Vanish soap bar method on my recently purchased second 75 that has really grubby seats.
Brought them up a treat. Had several comments about how good the seats now look. But as above noticed colour can be removed very easily if worn!!

Just bought Furniture clinics ultra cleaner and protestant to see if it gets even better!!
