CDT MOT Pass - advisory free
The 05 CDT has passed for another year at 156k miles, advisory free, thanks to Andy and Debz.
It had the front struts, springs, brake plates, brake discs/pads and droplinks replaced by Andy (trikey) about 6 weeks ago. The pinchbolt on OS turned out to be a real pain and Andy took the strut/hub assembly home to separate, which he somehow managed to do despite the bolt head being completely rounded. Andy and Debz then returned for a day to put everything back together using the new components. A job expertly done. With the rear dampers, suspension arms and springs replaced in 2019, the suspension should outlast the car. |

CDT: MOT pass, advisory free

You then write a despairing post announcing that your trusty CDT will be going to the crusher because you're fed up with the expense of maintaining it. You express interest in a shiny Jaguar only a few years old, pointing out that it will be company for the one you own already. A debate then commences about how wonderful Jaguars are. It really won't do Maninder having the foresight to book preventative maintenance with a local, experienced club member and then claiming perfection at the MOT bay. . . Simon

Simon - I've gone and done the wrong thing again. Had two new tyres on the front last week as the existing ones were down to about 2.5mm - 3mm of tread. The rears - Pirelli P7 - are about 6mm. The new front tyres are Avon ZV7 and almost as quiet as when the previous P7's at the front were new. This morning I took the car to the trusted local garage for 4-wheel alignment. The front needed adjustment, which is not a surprise after the new suspension components. The car drives really well. |
