Cap on new build parking spaces.
Blimey! the private motor car looks to be public enemy number one these days They're now calling for all new house builds to limit car parking space to a maximum of one, All other vehicles will have to be moved off site to the edge of the development to encourage active travel https://www.transport-network.co.uk/...ity-says/17643

Noticied that at the new builds near to me not sure how many houses and flats but about 7 spaces and about 4 houses with driveways, its going to cause more cars parked on the street further down which has to have a double decker coming down through the housing scheme, and I can bet the additional cars will just park in the community centre car park/car home car park.
Not even sure if the developers are putting in a car park behind, still a few houses to be built.

Councils have tried that restraint on developments for many years, does not work, always means all the roads are cluttered, visitors spaces always occupied by residents from the next street etc.
Same problem with the small sizes garages are dimensioned. Modern cars do not fit. Minis are no long a mini sized car etc. |

It is a way to strangle the use of private car ownership and usage and force people onto "Public" transport that is not there.

With new house builds & new road builds isn't it now law that active travel has to be incorporated into the plans & new road building has to account for future emissions. https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlton...h=1dd9c4d644f3

I thought this was the case, although it would depend on the interpretation of the term 'active travel'. Would walking around looking for a parking space at the end of a working day constitute active travel?

They tried that in Stevenage New Town all those years ago. Footpath access to the houses only, garages away from the houses linked by narrow foorpaths. Try moving in with furniture when you do not have proper road access!
There is still a myth that all persons work in the same small town, so you can walk to work. Ha Ha, if only. Its bad enough having to walk miles to find a bus that does not go where you want/need to go. Or indeed need several buses just to go 5-7 miles to a hospital appointment. |

I was talking to the county council planning planning team yesterday about solar panels, small gardens and lack of parking.
they have a new planning policy coming out for debate which may cover these topics. Apparently government set guidelines that can be hard to go against but there is also a viability study that is used as well. Is a big garden and enough parking spaces for 1 car per bedroom plus 1 incase there is a couple plus "2" for visitors viable financially for the builder. I do not know what is in the study but builders refer to it so they can put up more houses with small gardens and little parking. macafee2 |

From what I've read all the construction/house building rules have changed since signing up to Net Zero. New set of environmental parameters to adhere too apparently.

The decline of so called Western civilization ( Ancient Greeks turning in graves!) continues at an ever more increasing pace, first there was the rise of the unelected and unaccountable so called 'adviser', then the attack on the motorist, what ever will they think of next, I know a deal with Iran to supply oil, hell why didn't any one advise the government to do that all those years ago.
