Pops.. Once it's back in, run the engine and hold the big water pipe, after a few mins the pipe should get hot, (i.e. the thermo opens) if it does, then all is well ...

Hiya James... well, after she run it for a bit, the top pipe was hot....

Hiya Russ. Yes, that is right... Although this housing only has two bolts... What i am asking is.... Is there any particular way that that the stat fits in.? Poppy

Well i just hpe so and that it is the problem with the gasket... That will be sorted next week....Poppy
