Pops.. Once it's back in, run the engine and hold the big water pipe, after a few mins the pipe should get hot, (i.e. the thermo opens) if it does, then all is well ...

With a new gasket & tighten the housing bolts.
If old gasket then apply some gasket Blue to assist sealing into its housing.

Hiya James... well, after she run it for a bit, the top pipe was hot.......does this mean that the stat is definitley working then.? Poppy

Hiya Russ. Yes, that is right... Although this housing only has two bolts... What i am asking is.... Is there any particular way that that the stat fits in.? Poppy
