Have you checked the card is enabled via the device manager?

It's starting to sound complicated! I'll work out what you mean and give it a go.

Hi Peter

The easiest thing for you to do is a System Restore.
You won't lose any of your files & it may well sort your problem out rather than you going through Device Manager & making any changes that you're not sure about.
System Restore can also be 'undone' if you so wish.

I agree with the post above, do a system restore to a time and date before you got your duster out!

Go for the system restore

If you want to check to see if your wireles card is enabled
(This is for XP)
Click on Start
Then select Control Panel
Once the screen loads double click on network connections
Your wireless card should be visible in here select this with one click
Then right mouse click and you will get a pop up box.
If the first selection is Enable - then card is disabled select this and it will enable the card
If the first selection is Disable - then card is enabled
Second option on pop up box is the facility to see what wirelss networks are in range.

Well my new found friends ,as i write this piece , i'm doing this via wireless again! I found the system restore application and went for it and after sweating for 10mins i managed to reload my internet security system and all is well with the world (this should turn my wife's frown upside down as she's been giving me grief for messing with her laptop)

Thank you guys it's really appreciated

Peter

Her......Dusting!!!! There was that much dust on the screen and key pad that i thought it had been fitted with a fur cover! I had a day off that day and she gave me a list of jobs to do whilst she was at work including tidy the house. That's what got me into trouble!

Next time she gives me a list of jobs i'll call on the forum first for advice before i get into anymore trouble!!
