I made contact with a company that can replicate the original brush, even down to the copper content and flylead fixing. They cost about £40 a set, BUT the problem is the commutator on the motor wears as much as the brushes, so you don't get much more life out of it.....

Hi David
There was a post on here from last year giving the Company name and address in Germany IIRC??? I'm sure a set was under £10

Well I'll be blowed if i can find it......

1. Plenum drains..all 3 or 4 year dependent
2. Cooling fan..All speeds functioning
3. Bonnet cable divider block

HI jules
Whats the problem with the brushes surly there are spares
around somewhere an electrician mate of mine told me
as long as you have the correct length it does not matter
if they are to thick you can grind them down

I'm sure they were an ebay seller who'd some how acquired them from siemens.

I spent the best part of 2 hours chatting to a chap who designs motors for a living. He explained the ins and outs in some detail, as to why these brushes have been designed in this manner.

Some people have managed to fit a "similar sized" brush in the holder, but they don't last long.
