Took it to the reknown ProSpeed in Cardiff today.

Can't fault the service, they're now on an industrial estate so no more having a gander around the highstreet, however I entertained myself with the PS2 and Pool table they have in the waiting room.

I will upload a sound clip in the very near future. I asked for it to have a tasteful, responsive tone and not just a loud, droning noise you hear on a lot of vehicles ostensibly parked at McDonalds every weekend.

TASK 14

Brake Calipers

The colour was a toss up between Black, Yellow or Red.

As much as the Max Power side of me wanted to do them red, I decided that it's a bit cliche and probably a colour best left for cars sporting them from the factory. I considered Yellow but for me, the rear caliper isn't big enough to justify bright colours.

So I went with boring black

My first surprise was that the alloy centre caps were actually salvageable;

Here's the kit I used. Steam gun, wire brush, water w/ shampoo and a multi purpose brush. The paint was black VHT.

I decided that whilst the rear wheels were off, I'd tidy up parts of the arch that are visible with the wheel fitted.

For example, painting the exposed metal black.

End result, how filthy the wheels are - I also painted the bolts black, however this is an interim measure as I'll buy some brand new ones shortly.

Looks good. This is a job that I need to do soon, my calipers don't look too pretty!

Keep up the good work!

Looking great!

What paint did use for the manifold? It looks really smart

Well I actually used the Very High Temp' paint that I used on the calipers. It has the E-Manifold depicted on the tin, so I thought I'd have a go.

Just a quick word of warning if you do it yours - (and anyone reading this) - turn the engine on after painting and let the manifold ''cook'' the paint. It produces a fair bit of smoke and smells, strangely, like Barbeque!

I painted mine, took it around the block, parked it and freaked out about the smell and smoke wafting from under the bonnet

Do they have a small grub screw in the side? If not you could drill and tap some in, should make them alot harder to be taken then
