A 100 amp alternator will give electrical faults on a Diesel Rover 75, and I would not recommend using one.
One reason the alternator was upped to 120 amp at the introduction of the second phase of production, is that it gave false voltages to the fuel burning heater, causing multiple can bus faults. The trick with mk1 alterator was a higher amped fuse. A 120 amp alternator is the correct fitment now, for a diesel 2.0 Rover 75 of any age. Read through the links in my signature below Snagger.

PS. It makes no sense to say a 100 amp alternator will cause electrical faults because it just won't. Last edited by COLVERT; 20th September 2020 at 15:14.. |

You haven't got a timing belt, but it is worth changing the 2 auxiliary belts - one drives the alternator, power steering and water pump and the other is for the air conditioning compressor. I wouldn't change the tensioner for the alternator but if the bearing feels rough when you spin it then just change that.
