webasto how many amps to pin 3
a few questions about supplying power to the webasto heater:
1. Should pin be supplied with positive or negative? 2. How much current will pin 3 draw? 3. what does pin 3 control? glow plug? circulation pump? 4. there are some electrical plugs that fit into the top of the heater. could you guide me as to what each plug and each pin for the electrical plugs actually do? trying to work put which wires I need and which ones I don't as I'm not using the outside air temperature gauge Thank you macafee2 |

pin 3 (of the 6 pin plug) is just a -ve control signal. As the man said; Only milliamps.
It controls the whole lot - operation of the unit fan/pump/pump/glowplug. From startup sequence to shutdown sequence. The only significant current draw is on the 2-pin power plug You need not mess with the other plugs on the FBH - they are internal from the units fan/pump/pump/glowplug to its own circuit board. "I'm not using the outside air temperature gauge" -You could instead use pin.1 and put +12v to it, instead of the car putting +12v to it when it's cold. However (IMO) you'd be as well to leave that as is, you then have auxilliary heating on startup. The k-bus on pin.2 does nothing useful on the Rover (on some beemers the webasto talks via the k-bus to the heater controls for parking heating) It does leave the Webasto vunerable to k-bus voltages zapping the pcb in some conditions. Feel free to snip away or re-use the pin to put into slot 3. Note: All above refers to the Model 98570B (later) FBH -a Last edited by alan richard; 12th December 2013 at 09:29.. My Launch does but my T4 doesn't because MGR didn't pay for the extra software. With the forced output facility I can: Power up the Glow plug Run the combustion fan Measure the glow plug resistance Run the water pump Run the dosing pump All independently of each other.............and all via Bluetooth

thank you for the info. I am now the owner of a 98570B heater. It's not a heavy as expected. The dosing pump bracket is quite useable but I'm going to take the pump off to clean and paint the bracket. With help of another thread I think I've found the fuel pipe in the engine bay.
I have a lot of threads bookmarked and so I'm hoping that I'll be able to fit this without any problems. The weekend is only a day away macafee2 |
