Another quiet night has allowed me more time to pay.

I've removed the K-bus wire, applied the 12v+ve and nothing.

Removed the two pin power lead and refit it, and it's burst into life.

Run through its sequence and I've got smoke and lots of whistling.

I think it's smokey because the burner is new, and I think it's whistling as the exhaust pipe needs tightening up.

Let it run its course, and it wound down and did its thing before stoping.

I went out on a call, which allowed it to cool down. When I cam back, applied 12v again and it burst into life straight away.

The only problems I seem to have now is, a) the amount of smoke it generates and b), when the fan stops running, you get a lot of smoke come OUT of the air intake.

I think I'm getting there,,:

Thats great, David, although a bit puzzling that the problems may have been caused by the Kbus connection.

Are you going to replace the Kbus wire and try again?

Or leave well enough alone....

Run it for a good half hour
Let it get up to temp and then start throttling back and then on off to maintain water temp.

Any smoke due to a new burner shoud go in the first couple of minutes and then should not smoke

If it is you need to go to a Webasto agent and get the CO2 set up properly

run it for at least 30 minutes a month to keep it healthy till winter
not just the burner but the water pumps etc need to run occasionally

I thought that once it was up and running, it just ran until it got upto temperature. The longest it runs for is about 2-3 minutes before it shuts down.

It smokes continually, although it is white smoke and not back.

Presumably this is done via a laptop and the Webasto software?

True, but it should take a lot longer than 2/3 minutes to get to that temperature (65 degrees, I think).

I know it all depends on how cold the coolant is in the first place, but in 2 or 3 mins, the heater itself would barely be warm.

I ran mine the other morning for 15 minutes and the day was pretty hot.

edit: I assume that your engine is cold when you fire up the FBH?

I think, the problem with mine is, the combustion fan is intermitant, or the PCB is playing up. Even with Tony's I can't get it to run for long....
