ipod touch assistance
Hi,
My daughters laptop went a bit wonky and had to be repaired but in the process the computer has been wiped. Now I know when I sync her ipod touch it will wipe everything as I have done this myself before. Upon reloading itunes it's empty but all her music is still on her ipod touch, I have searched online on how to get music from her ipod back to her computer but not sure which one the many programs to get? I was going to try to get one to try but I have to pay but not sure if it would work. Any help & advice appreciated? |

It is not normally possible.
If they were purchased for iTunes then they can be downloaded again foc. There may be third party software but it won't comply with Apple's terms of use. The idea is to stop one person buying a tune and sharing it around. |

Use Copytrans. Ive given up using itunes as both my wife and I have seperate devices and files etc and its a nighmare. Copytrans is free and can do a full backup for you. Plus its a simple case of dragging and dropping each file rather than a full resync of your music files.

Is your computer is Mac or Windows? On some iPods it is possible to see the music files themselves - they are 'hidden' files but in Windows this can changed to you will see them - then copy to PC and reimport into iTunes. On a Mac so not simple as Apple have closed it off pretty well, but there are a couple of apps that say they do it. Of course if you have access to a PC you could copy the music files to DVD and then import on the Mac.
Hope this helps |

Cheers for the replies.
I have managed before with an iPod nano to retrieve files as there hidden. The iPod touch doesn't have a hard drive as such so not as easy and wasn't keen on buying any program's just in case. She remembered most of her music was in her blackberry so copied across to her laptop & back to iTunes so not as big a disaster as first thought. Going to get an external hard drive for both of them so it doesn't happen again. Thanks again. |

MusicRescue is a program which allows you to retrieve music from your iPod. Have used it before and it is quite good. Freebie version and paid version.
