That's unusual, I thought
Its been a long day, I got the 0630 from Glasgow Central this morning, spent the day in Manchester and have just arrived back into Glasgow just now. Nowt unusual there you might say.
Anyway I had dozed off on the train and woke up after we arrived in Glasgow. Still sleepy I got off the train, looked accross the platform to see a class 5 steam engine along with a rake of maroon coaches!!!!!! To be honest it took me a couple of minutes to realise I wasn't dreaming. Turns out it was the Great Britain Railtour, just a shame I couldn't take a photo, mind the sound of it leaving will stay with me a while |

It would have been one of these two ex. LMS class 5 engines.

I've always loved railways, in particular the heritage diesel scene, but it has to be said the bark of the exhaust on it leaving was magnificent.

Wish I'd been there to see it.
We used to live in a farm cottage just next to the railway and just along the track there was a viaduct. We used to play on it as kids, much frowned upon these days but we lived like the railway children. When the viaduct caught fire (quite often) as a result of the sparks from the steam engines we were always the first to phone the fire brigade. The train drivers would drop off huge chunks of coal for our use as a thank you I guess. JYJ |
