Default Key snapped off in lock

Good Evening all,

Some of you may remember a month or so back, I had a bit of a quandary about an OEM removable tow bar I had fitted to the back of my 75. I still had the socket holder and MG Rover electrics hidden under the car, but I didn't have the removable swan neck.

Well to cut a long story short, with the very kind help of Saltash and Mr Doodles, I managed to locate the missing part and have recently received it in the post.

However, what the seller declined to mention was that the key that locks the swan neck into place had snapped off in the lock, and it looks like someone has taken a butchers knife to try and prize it out.

I was wondering whether anyone knew of any techniques/methods that would help me try and remove the offending part of the key? Please see attached picture for a better description.

As always, any help gratefully appreciated.

Your best chance would be a locksmith.

I hope you have raised an Ebay dispute?

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I have one of the Rover OEM towbars fitted & had a problem with the lock turning. Turned out it is just a round barrel "Loctited" in place I just removed the barrel, cleaned it up & re Loctited in place. You should be able to release with Molegrips, even if you damage the lock you will still be able to use the swan neck
