Easy DRL's
After reading Astraeus [Chris's] thread on DRL's I thought I would add a few
pictures to make it easier. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=188291 Also I have fitted a diode that enables you to have full operation of the fog lamps Piggy back fuse http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2212181318...84.m1497.l2649 15 amp diode. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2615471419...84.m1497.l2649 Relay ( these need to extinguish when you switch on the car side lights for MOT) Normally closed 12v relay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1213327272...84.m1497.l2649 Bumper off Passenger headlight out to get access to a side light positive feed. This is the thin wire nearest engine of the four. The outside one becomes positive when you switch on ignition so it will not work. Ignition positive from fuse box Light green/Brown wire from fog lamps is cut to add the relay and diode connections. Shown with block connectors for demonstration purpose. I have soldered and shrink wrapped the joints. Headlamps, no fogs [DRL's] Headlamps and fog lamps. Now fitted with LED fog lamps. Thanks to Chris [Astraeus]. That looks tidy Duotone - I was thinking of doing the same - but when using the indicators, I'd prefer the DRL on that side to extinguish just in case it masks the indicator - as happens on some new cars I've seen with DRLs.
So I'm thinking where a can pick up a signal to switch off one DRL when indicating. Clearly I don't want the DRL flashing in sympathy with the indicator ! Hope that makes sense..........

What a great mod, especially if fitted with dimming lights when indicating.

Good work, I don't think I'll be bothering with DRL however, as I have two sensors, one at each side of my nose that tell me automatically when lights are required
I'm I alone in thinking that the growing crop of new cars fitted with these things, are a a nuisance, along with cars that illuminate one fog light when turning corners. Running with lights on used to be the sole reserve of motorcycles, and quite frankly should have stayed that way. Brian |
