front end clunking
Hi all.
I'm getting constant mild clunking noises from my front end, I might be imagining things but it also feels perhaps a slightly harder ride over bumps than before. I know I need to do the bottom mount on the engine (just ordered, but didn't think this would cause the noise) and I've also ordered anti-roll bar mounts. What should I be looking at next as the culprit? |

mine was the drop links
these were easy to see jacking it up; split rubbers and some motion. Worth a look |

The rear mounts normally show that they are shot when you brake.

Have a good look, and use something like a crow bar (or similar) to get some pressure on ball joints and bushes.

Similar problem. However.......
Had a clunking noise. Bought ARB bushes and droplinks. Went to fit them today and the osf bottom ball joint in the lower wishbone is so worn, the driveshaft is able to move about 20mm in total! Trying to source a decent osf lower wishbone for a sensible price is quite a challenge! Only must have got that bad in the last few weeks as I replaced the os driveshaft about a month ago and it was fine then!

Have had a look underneath, I'm no mechanic... but it looks like the near side droplink (I think it's the droplink I'm looking at). Should I replace both sides rather than just one side?
I'll take some pictures and add them soon. |
