Another on-line scam
Similar to the driving licences/road tax/passport scams:-
Daughter needed to renew her European Health Insurance Card (previousl an E111 card). BEWARE: This site www.europeanhealthcard.org.uk charges £23.50 This site www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcareabroad/EHIC/Pages/about-the-ehic.aspx charges nothing Guess which one comes at the top of search engine listings

It is only top because it is one of the paid for Ads. Now it may appear pedantic but it is important that people differentiate between the paid for ads and the rest of the results. In my book the ads are always suspect, but that's because I'm an old cynic Obviously depends on what the search was, for instance if you are looking for new shoes then a paid for ad may not be a bad thing to look at. But for "official" type things they are a no-no in my book. Just in case you weren't aware take a look at the top results to see if they say Ad or sponsored listing. Egg sucking lesson over, what a big nose you have grandma |

Best advice for anything official is start at www.gov.uk / in this case it's actually NHS but nevertheless if you enter EHIC in the search box it will show this page Including a warning about the unofficial high cost (SCAM) site.
Follow above advice and never fall foul of pretend sites again.
