Default LPG Conversion

I am thinking of converting to LPG on a KV6 160. Any advice please?

A few members have had it done, but can you be a bit more specific what info your requesting?

From what I've read, and from memory:

It costs about £2500 for the V6.
You lose the spare wheel as a doughnut shape tank is used in the cavity.
No drop in performance but a slight drop in lpg mpg over petrol mpg.
Plugs need changing more regularly.
Starts on petrol & switches to LPG when warm.
Takes about a week to do the conversion.
You can't use the Channel Tunnel or some ferries.

Ermmm......

Had mine converted about 3 weeks ago.

Go for the biggest tank you can fit, I think the tourers will take a bigger tank than the saloons. I had a 69 litre fitted to my saloon in the spare wheel well.
You will only be able to fill the tank to 80% of its capacity, I get about 55 litres in mine.

Cost is nearer to £2000, really depends on what system is fitted and by who, make sure you go for a lpga approved fitter.

Driving normally you won't notice any difference, or even when booting it.

If you are planning to keep your car, I'd say go for it!

Any idea how many miles you can expect from a new set of plugs(presumably NGKs)?

Hi REDevil,

Great idea but.... Can you can see the amount of LPG what is left in the tank when the car is running on LPG?
Do you have an OBC, and if so, is that still working while driving op LPG?
How may miles has your 75 done on petrol?
Questions, questions....
Thanks.

Rob.

Yes, the car is fitted with a combined switch and LED gauge which gives an approximation of the amount of LPG left in the tank.

What is an OBC?

I have a ZT and it had done 39540 miles up to the point of conversion.

Sorry, an OBC means "On Board Computer", I have asked for that because you can see in your OBC the car's fuel consumption, if you have one .

Regards,

Rob.

It still shows what it believes is the rate of consumption of petrol. I believe that it derives its figures from the petrol injector pulse widths and so as the injector drivers are feeding into a dummy load it knows no difference.
