Radio adapter not working
I have a Pioneer DEH-2000MPB radio fitted to my car, I do not know what the previous radio that was installed was, I tried using an autoleads PC99-X39 adapter to make my steering controls work, but to no avail. I did purchase a patch lead with it but I have this red plug that doesn't seem to fit anything.
Below are some pictures of my radio wires and the adapter. Is there anyway to make this work or do I have the wrong adapter? Last edited by Skinjam; 30th September 2015 at 22:34.. |

you should have some mini plugs on the loom from the car
you can see them in this pic (click it to enlarge it) circled in red tri colour plug (well its 3 plugs slotted together) yellow blue and green I believe this should go in the red plug but I stand to be corrected as i have never fitted that lead

These are the three plugs that connect to you red plug.
However, as your car is a 2001 model I doubt your steering wheel control wires are in the green plug. The two wires you are looking for are blue/orange and blue purple, the most likely are connected to the large grey ISO plug, shown below. I would suggest you cut the blue/orange and blue/purple wires from the grey ISO plug and connect to the two wires in your empty red plug. Dave T |

From memory none of my plugs are coloured, they were just black and plugged into the radio adapter I have, the wires themselves were coloured. Infact I do not have anything that would plug into the red plug, it seems like every wire is being used apart from a few stray wires, but will I still be able to cut the correct ones and put them into the red plug?

Unless it had the High Line navigation system, a 2001 Rover 75 would originally been fitted with a Harmony stereo, the connector on the car loom would be a black 17 pin BMW connector with the two steering wheel control cables in it. Or a Symphony stereo with two 8 pin ISO connectors, grey and brown, with the steering wheel control cables in the grey one. It is only the later cars that had the steering wheel control cables in a green mini ISO connector (as in Duotone's post). Each system needs a different adapter lead: BMW connector - PC99-X32 ISO connectors - PC99-X04 mini ISO connector - PC99X39 |

I purchased a PC99-X04 radio adapter and all the connectors fit, the colours matched but it still didn't work So I'm not sure if it's the adapter that's not working or the radio/stalk. Since I have two adapters I swapped parts around to see if it made a difference, but still nothing.

Hi.
The sequence you have to use when fitting these has to be adhered to. Forgive me if you are already - but it's flummoxed me a few times in the past... Although I have to say that if the PC99-X32 is not suited to your car, the one with the 17 pin BMW Connector I would have thought the PC99-X30 would be the one to use if already fitted with the ISO type connector...??? Here is the sequence to use when fitting. Cheers.

The one I have I'm sure is correct since all the colours match up, but I think I need all the adapters to see if any work at all, I just hope it's not something silly like a plug has come loose somewhere stopping it from working. |
