Default Poseidon update

Hi guys, well poseidon is here and he's looking better than when he rolled off the truck. It definately is worth putting a new engine in it and this is the main project that myself and my good mate jamie welch are going to tackle.

Bodywork is good. A few ninks and dinks here and there and some very minor paintwork issues but all in all good.
Had a flat tyre when it got here so that's now pumped up.
Apex alloys are in great condition aside from the rear passenger that has a scratch. All of these will be refurbed whilst the engine is out.

Interior has seen better days. Mould and damp have gotten onto certain areas but after a full interior clean it's now looking good.

Why polish a car that needs all this work yet? Two good reasons for that; polishing it etc shows you where all the imperfections are and that serves as a basis for when new ones may appear, second reason, I hated seeing it like it was on the truck and in my ownership it's going to be very well looked after.

The icing on the cake? 8 way passenger seat!

I'll add pictures after a bit of lunch and for today, poseidon is getting no more attention as my back is done in.

All the best, si

Should definitely be a good project! You just need to get the donor car sorted now . Can strip the interior out to give it all a good clean when we need to take a break from the engine swap.

Thumbs up

Simon,

I would still like to check the engine first before taking it out.

Tom.

To be fair the sludge in the header tank is ridiculous. It's really thick. I've been quoted £950 for new heads, belts, oil cooler and all the other stuff to go with it which to be quite honest is pointless cost when i can get an engine for £250-300 in a zt and then pay £150 to a member on here to do the belts etc whilst it's out. Once all that's done, I'll pay my trader fees and break the donor car up and recoup some cost that way.

I do agree with what you're saying but at what point do I say enough is enough?

As it has overheated you also don't know if the liners will have dropped or possible warped the heads/block either. Might be worth bypassing the oil cooler in case that has failed, is there a guide on here? As water and oil can mix in there I believe when they fail giving similar symptoms to a HGF

Ask Steve (Arctic) how much was in my Typhoon's cooling system outside his house, when the oil cooler put around 4lts of oil into it on the way over to him....

It's not there anymore and it still has the same engine!

Default pics update

here is poseidon when it first turned up on the lorry....

rolled it off the lorry and parked it up for it's once over....

interior looking dusty and grubby.....

who ordered frothy coffee?........

And then, after a good wash and polish...........

My neighbour pulling off in his firefrost tourer......

dash and interior polished, just needs a hoover.....

love the black oak trim which runs onto the cupholder unit, gear surround and hazard switch surround.......

Going to be a pleasure getting this back on the road and hopefully will give me many years happy motoring in the future
