Default 75/ZT Saloon Roof Bar Kit

At the ripe age of 60 I am getting back into my Kayak, but I need a roof rack.

Thule etc do not do one for the 75/ZT Saloon and I don't want the strappy thing through the windows.

Has anyone got a roof bar set for a saloon going spare anywhere?

The alternative is try and fabricate something around my old system from the Audi A5 and the Cruz bars for that.

Suggestions?

I know that many companies did roof bars for for 75 Saloons Thule included. They were three pack kits, you had a choice bars, either aerodynamic or rectangular. To them you fitted a leg pack and to the legs you fitted the 75 saloon foot pack. We have a set of Thule aero bars, that we use on my wife's saloon. I may well have a set of cheep bars for the saloon also, if they have not been thrown out.
I will have a look in the Garage on Tuesday and get back to you.

Lightningmark; Thanks for the offer but your modded bars would put the front and rear cross bars too close together for the kayak hull/frame.

macafee2; would be interested on the thule/cheap bars if available.

What I should have said is that Cruz do not do a Rover 75/ZT footpack, was anticipating attempting a Cruz/Dexion hybrid, unless anyone had the Thule kit or an original MG Rover Kit.

Thanks Fellahs, I will wait to hear from alanaslan?

Cheers, Muttley

sorry, was not offering to sell mine but to look at the boxes to see what parts you need. They are not as good looking as originals but I have used Thule for over 15 years and never had a problem on any car

Hi I have found a set of cheep bars at the back of the garage, what I need to do now is wait until tomorrow night when the wife gets home from her mothers and check they are 75 bars and not 600 bars. When she gets in tomorrow night I will check the bars fit her car.

The bars do fit the 75 saloon but they are not as snug a fit as the Thule set they are much more secure. Even with angle clamps on the bars ant the boat secured front and rear as you are mentioned to, I would be worried that my boat being worth more than my car may come off. But if you want them I can arrange to mail them to you. Though I would recommend a set of Thule bars for something as valuable as your boat.
Kind regards
Alan
