Default Click, Click Dam it!!

A good start to the day.
Stopped at the services on way to Heathrow and on return to car Click, Click, lights flashing etc.
Whats strange no warning and first time its done it.
Even worse,
being on The Service Area RAC would not attend, have to be on road!!
With many motorists around a quick Jump lead job got it started, and got to work.
Came back out from Job same again, meter test showed 10.2Volts on battery.
Another jump start and off to only place I had seen Halfrauds for a New Cadmium Battery with 4 Year Guarantee and a Cost of ......
£104.99.
Now starting fine but what a Rip off.
Strange how just went after a 190 mile run to the services.
Battery Original fit one so only just over 3 Years Old!
Cannot return Dealer Gone and no more MGR!

The battery on my previous 75 went just as yours did John.

No warning and then click, click, click...nothing.

New battery solved all

Maybe the electrics are capable of compensating down to a specific voltage and then shutting down to protect the electronics maybe?

I assume all the normal things are ok, charging, lights all off etc.
Very strange for there to be no warning, when it happens to me you will usually have a suspicion there is something wrong 1st.
I shouldn't really ask you that though.

According to their telephone Help line.
Several Motorway Service Areas are "Void" for them to do servicing.
Generally ones that have a Garage on it seems.

Alternator fine and giving out correct Voltage,
no warning lights on Panels etc.
No warning what so ever, been starting perfectly, running fine and not a lot of short Journeys.
Thats what caught me out.
See also at Raistlin (Paul's) post above for very similar.

Since getting home I put old battery on "High" charge and after a few hours still only has 10 volts in it so suspect one plate down?
So that will be going to local Tip (Recycling centre)

Must be the time of year for batteries

You might remember mine went a couple of weeks back. Didn't die instantly like yours seems to have - just showed up "Low Battery Charge" warning on the message centre. Mine was the original from 2001.

Mine was a 2004-10 Delphi Battery.
I didn't get that Lo Battery Warning.
Being an Auto-box and Diesel requires a bit of extra grunt
Voltage was to Low for Tester at Halfrauds which is why I bought battery back with me in case not faulty.
