looks white but changed IMG and there is no sign of head gasket failure....there was oil from turbo getting into throttle body.

Was there a lot of oil evident or just a misting .Misting is normal .White is normally water /coolant .Is it losing coolant .HGF doesn't always show up on a sniff test .As a former warranty engineer for one of the worlds largest engine manufacturers . I have seen a lot of similar scenarios ,Would still predict HGF rather than turbo.

I have done the tests advised on here, run up to temp and left to cool....opened expansion tank ..no sign of exhaust gas.....done this a few times.
No mayo ..no signs of oil in coolant.....did the IMG still smokey....I'm miffed

It is very highly unlikely that the turbo is your source of fault .Highly likely that you have a slight internal coolant leak ie HGF or liner seating .Good Luck in tracing the fault .I wouldn't go throwing money at a new turbo .

What does the smoke smell like Keith? like high sulphur coal being burnt perhaps?

If you want to check the turbo, this is quite simple, remove the outlet air pipe, and check for end float and axial play on the turbine spindle.

There should be next to no axial movement, if there is, then the turbo is shot
