Expansion tank cap 1800 turbo 75
Driving yesterday top hose split could the radiator pressure expansion tank cap of caused this never seen a pipe like it

Your billboard size photo isn't very helpfull. Reduce it t0 800 pixels wide and try again.
The pressure cap isn't responsible for a burst hose. I'd say there was insufficient coolant circulating and the engine overheated very rapidly causing a pressure surge. Having said that, the 1.8 hoses aren't the toughest. TC Last edited by T-Cut; 30th October 2018 at 07:56.. |

That's the standard failure mode for 1.8 top hoses, along the flashing seam (where the 2 halves of the die met when the hose was made).
Nothing to do with the expansion cap, everything to do with age. Just ask MGJohn! |

I did a reverse flush 2 weeks ago the NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- that came out you wouldn’t believe as the passenger side heater was only blowing out cold air heater now working on both sides topped up with antifreeze bled the system been running fine no air locks I’m baffled pipe should be delivered today so I will top up and see what happens also going to replace the cap
