Clive James
Clive James has just died. He fought a long battle against leukaemia - over ten years.
Loved his quotes - one of my favourite:- “Common Sense and a Sense of Humour are the same thing moving at different speeds” |

I liked Clive. I know that he was from an earlier era but he came to prominence in my memory for his ridicule on UK tv of the Japanese Endurance program - aka the modern-day knock-off which is "I am not a celebrity" as currently hosted by a pair of very poor pretenders to the late Eric and Ernie.

Clive James was not recognised sufficiently for his skill with the written word. His book of Poems That Make Men Cry was very moving. One of his poems, Japanese Maple, was an insight into his own mind as he slowly became aware of his own demise during the onset of his debilitating illness. One of the most moving things I have ever read. R.I.P.

Sad loss of a very funny man. Used to love his shows in the 90s, satire at it's best.
