Default Rover 75 Connoisseur SE, CDTI(131), Manual, 2005

September 2022 - I half sold the car a year ago at the time of the original forum advert but then just couldn't bring myself to do it.

As it is, the car is just not getting much use yet has so much life left in it. So, the decision is to let it go hopefully to someone who will enjoy it for many tens of thousands of happy miles.

This is a March 2005 registered manual diesel saloon in starlight silver, owned by us (the Mrs) since September 2012. It has 3 previous registered keepers.

Full maintenance history of the car in our ownership is documented in this thread https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=134788

The car is now on 158.7k miles (was 156.6k in August 2021 so 2.1k miles covered since in 6 off 350ish mile motorway journeys between Suffolk and Portsmouth!) and has all the signs that it could easily cover another 100k with normal maintenance for a CDT of this age. It drives really well. The clutch is light and smooth.

The body paintwork has a few light blemishes from car doors opening etc. but no dents of any sort. The rear bumper has a bruise on the OS corner and the front NS bumper has a bruise around the indicator - see photos.

Overall, I would say the car is in good condition and would suit someone who is looking for a reliable everyday vehicle that has been well looked after and is likely to go on for many years and miles.

It has working powerfolds, memory seats, ice cold aircon (last recharged in 2019) and a fully functional OEM thermostat. The reversing sensors were bleeping continuously when reversing at the time we purchased the car and I simply removed the fuse. I have never felt the need for these on a car of this size so cannot say what would be needed to get them to work again.

All the major jobs on the car were carried out by Terry of tsautos and later forum member trikey. General maintenance was by my trusted local independent and some interim oil/filter changes by myself.

If I was keeping the car, I would either spray the bruised corner or have the whole rear bumper resprayed. See photographs

The rear tyres are Pirelli P7 Cintrato with around half the treads remaining. The fronts are nearly new Avon ZV7s with about 1500 miles on them. All wheels are 7-spokes as I prefer the simple elegance of these to the original forks on the Conni SE. A buyer can have the forks FOC but these would require refurbishing due to flaking paint.

The car will come with the following new parts:

1. set of rear TRW discs, pads and sensors (front set fitted last year 2021)

2. Genuine MGR air filter (actually got fitted at the 2021 service so now not included as separate item) ( new genuine diesel filter was fitted less than 5k miles ago)

3. Bigg Red brake caliper refurbishment kit for one front caliper (driver's side refurbished about 2.5 years ago when the caliper started to bind, hence the advisory on the brake disc).

4. Haynes manual

5. Pollen filter and PCV oil separator (I can fit these if the buyer so requests)

6. Any other small items in my inventory e.g. oil filter, spare interior door handle etc.

7. 400ml can of starlight silver spray paint

Since the original advert a year ago, the car had new front Boge-Sachs struts, springs, brake discs, pads and rear plates all ably fitted by Andy (trikey).

Prospective buyers are welcome to view - we are near Stowmarket just off the A14.

Non-negotiable price: £25000. The price is fixed and aggressive negotiations will not be entertained. Anyone trying the 'say nothing' tactic may find it a very quiet/lonely couple of hours sitting in my garden with a cup of tea on their own!

Registration is KY05WCO

Exterior bodywork

In photographs BB6 to BC2, one of my other cars is reflecting in the Rover's paintwork with the chrome grill giving the appearance of a large scratch. If you look at BB5, the Corsa and its reflection can be seen more clearly.

The black spots on the paintwork are flies form the adjacent field. They may or may not accompany the car when sold - it will be their decision.

Note the bottom of driver side bolster in picture IB4. It was like this when we bought the car in 2012 and has not got any worse in the nearly 10 years since.

End of information!

In addition, between 2012 and 2017 I gave the car interim oil and filter changes every 7kish miles. Since we bought the car in 2012 the oil used has been Millers XF 5W40 fully synthetic. I always give the garage my own fluids, filters etc.

Note: the front brake discs with surface rust in the photos were replaced in Dec 2021 with new.

Will be going on a certain auction site shortly as I now have too many cars on the drive.
