Default Are XP PCs still available

Our PC is due to be replaced soon, and I'm hoping I'll still be able to get XP (we've got Vista on our recently purchased laptop, and I just can't get on with it - sorry, I have tried!)

I know Dell were still doing Vista to XP "downgrades" recently, but a quick visit there hasn't given me much hope :-(

Anyone know of a reputable supplier that still does them?

I don't know of any suppliers that still do them although you might be able to build yourself a pc, or purchase a pc without an OS and then install XP yourself if you have a license for XP.

I just installed WinXP pro on a lady friends laptop, she hated Vista! ..

All you need is a "genuine" copy of WinXP on CD.

Have a look at Insight (www.insight.com/uk ), most HP PC's come with an XP downgrade option and their configuration centre will downgrade it for you fairly cheaply.

I am a manager at Insight and we see lots of Vista machines being downgraded and you will be suprised at the choice available to you.

Cheers
Lee.

As said several Companies Dell included will load Windows XP if they are going to loose a sale through Vista being preloaded.

Thanks for the replies!

Quite happy to get a Vista machine - as long as it comes with a downgrade option!

Think I need to get a move on though, before it's too late

(They're a good outfit, ask for Lucy or Richard if phoning).

Nice to know it's still possible to get XP on it's own - at least this way I might have more choice of what to buy, although it would be galling to have to pay for Vista and then effectively throw it away!

Might be critical to get a new PC soon. Seems it didn't like me asking about a replacement! Made a load of strange whirring and clicking noises in the night, load enough to wake me up, which takes some doing! It was in "hibernate" which was odd... Loaded up this morning, but currently none of the USB sockets seem to be working...
