Painting the Windscreen Scuttle Panel

Hi
A word (or two) of advice welcomed please.
I have a light black (its not quite grey) scuttle panel and clips.
In addition I have some surface rust on one of my wiper arms.
New clips and snap snacks aren't a problem, they are available, but to fit them I have to take off the panel and wiper arms.
I feel it might be worth painting the scuttle panel and the wiper arms while they're off.
If so, what primer and paint is best for the panel and can I use the same stuff on the wiper arms?
As ever the forums wealth of accoumulated experience is always useful.

At the weekend, I used some Forever Black trim dye on another vehicle of mine. Looks quite nice, the blurb says its permanent ( time will tell ), unlike these greasy wipe on back to black type products. It wasn't that cheap and I used IPA instead of teh supplied cleaner to remove traces of previous attempts to make it go black.

I presume you have read ARCTICS brilliant post on here regarding this. If not find it on the google search above. The key to this is as with all painting ,within the preparation work. Arctic used certain paints which were not expensive alternatives , as an economy guide. Not being a painter , advise on paints covering plastics may be advised by others on here. You can of course still buy the originals from rimmer bros. Not that expensive actually. Depends upon your preference or abilities i suppose.

I've used Upol paints for plastics .

Use the adhesion promoter first and then whatever finish /plasX top coat .. lasts for years .

I've just flashed over a couple of coats of Simonize Tough Black satin. It works pretty well & only takes a couple of minutes.
