did you use a ptg first mate? how many microns came off?

Yes.
4 microns. (average reading for car was 134 and the thickest on roof was 155) Thinnest area (boot shut) was 101, so we had at least 20 to play with and leave scope for further correction. i've got the data cable for the CM8828 if you would like me to send you the data I collected? |

will the stone chips technique also work on plastic bumpers or does it have to be metal ?
Also wet and dry 2000 & 3000 was mentioned, when do you use one as opposed to the other ?

Yes, it will work fine on bumpers, you just need to be a little more careful when flatting the paint back, as bumpers can be a little thinner in terms of the amount of paint there is.
