did you use a ptg first mate? how many microns came off?

Yes.

4 microns. (average reading for car was 134 and the thickest on roof was 155)

Thinnest area (boot shut) was 101, so we had at least 20 to play with and leave scope for further correction.

i've got the data cable for the CM8828 if you would like me to send you the data I collected?

just wondering how the paint stood upto it. is it a ford ka?

no issues, 2000/3000 grit was tickling it, even with the soft paint. Yes, it's a KA.

will the stone chips technique also work on plastic bumpers or does it have to be metal ?

Also wet and dry 2000 & 3000 was mentioned, when do you use one as opposed to the other ?

Yes, it will work fine on bumpers, you just need to be a little more careful when flatting the paint back, as bumpers can be a little thinner in terms of the amount of paint there is.

Or in the case of a 2001 XJ8 I did recently an awful lot thinner. Go VERY carefully on plastic bumpers / panels.

Have you noticed how thin & soft the paint is on some Jap imports?
