Default Is there something wrong with my headlights?

I've noticed lately now that the dark nights are here that the headlights really are pathetic on my ZT. It has halogen projectors with the right standard spec bulbs & they all work but even on full beam you can hardly see more than 2 car lengths in front of you & there doesn't seem to be much width to the beam spread either.
It feels like you'd be better off waving a candle out the window is this normal or should they be quite good & mine have something wrong with them??

Regards Col

My headlights were fitted with bog standard halogen lamps and thought a bulb had blown so bad was the brightness, I even pulled into the next services to check despite the bulb warning light not being on. It was and the light was rubbish, clean lenses too.

So I bought some Osram nightbreakers and it's like a 15w against a 100w. Brilliant - literally

I said I would use you as my guinea pig so you're happy with them then?

I've never thought the lights were very good but didn't realise just how bad they were until last week driving home from the national meet & then last night in deepest darkest Weardale (where they talk funny) I was on the edge of my seat, I just couldn't see the road ahead

In my view, the standard lights on the 75 are not very good. Initially, uprated bulbs helped but it took HID lights to produce an output I was happy with.

I've had cars with a reputation for poor lights before hmmm Landcrab, Vauxhall Viva, Volvo 240 but I had much more confidence throwing them around the leafy lanes at night than I do with the MG, I'm not kidding it's dangerous. On full beam you get a distracting yellowy puddle of light just infront of the car & very little else & when you come to a corner there is no sideways illumination so you cant see into the bend, surely that cant be right can it?

Sounds silly but you've not accidently moved the wheel that points them down if your carrying something heavy on the back have you?

No I did think that myself but it's on the top setting & when you try it up against a wall the patterns look ok & at the right sort of height

I am very pleased with the Osram nightbreakers & would recommend them.

Thanks again to Lates for fitting them

I noticed how poor the headlights were when i bought the car. I now have the Osram Nighreakers and havnt looked back, there grrrrrrreat! (as tony the tiger would say) and Ive put them into my TF also.

On full beam though, they are still poor. In fact yesterday I looked to see if the could be adjusted up in some way, but couldnt see a way of doing this.
