Default Steering wheel options, opinions please......

OK, I've dithered long enough, and today, one way or t'other, a decision must be made!

Yup - wood/leather steering wheels again!

The amazing offer that SMC have at the mo has really tempted me but, as luck would have it, I need a walnut and smokestone and they don't have any.

As I see it there's three choices:-

1) Resign myself to no wood...
2) Go for an alternative wood and match the smokestone - but lighter or darker wood?
3) Go for the walnut and black, and have wood and black leather on the rim, with a smokestone airbag section

I know I have to make my own mind up, but what would any of you do?!

1/ Not really an option. The 75 needs wood.

2/ I dont think that would look right. Difference in wood shades too great.

3/ Best choice. Somewhere on this forum (or .org) is a picture of a 75 with a black wheel and smokestone/sandstone airbag section. Looked different and imo rather smart. Trouble is I cant track it down at the moment Sorry.

Have you tried taking any picture of a 75 with wood wheel in situ and photoshopping the leather bits black ???

Anyway what have you got to loose with 3. If you dont like it after a few months you can always take the wheel off and sell it again. Should get you money back.

Hope this helps

Go for number 3 and then keep a eye out for a black airbag section, or get one of the guys who will come round and dye it black.

You could be waiting for ever for a walnut and smokestone

I was wanting Sandstone/wood but hens teeth come to mind so i ended up ordering a black/wood yesterday.

But i have an idea to try and sort it out when it gets here. but if that doesn't work a bit of black should look fine.

My opinion just do it You now you want to.

Must admit I cheated. The leather wheel on mine was very shiny, due to high mileage, so I bought a virtually new leather one off ebay for £14 - the seller had replaced it with a wood/leather one.

So no wooden wheel, but I have got the handbrake handle and gearknob in walnut, and the real finishing touch, for me, is the beige h'brake and gear lever gaiters.

That'll do me

I would wait for one on ebay. A second hand walnut/smokestone wheel sold on ebay last week for only £107, from the same seller as mine came from.
