Default Jap Symphony Help Please.

Bought one of those new Japanese Symphony wirless/casette thingys, installed it with relavant band expander, iso to din/din to iso arial plugs, looks and sounds lovely, till I drive off!.Then I am treated to the sound going off/on/off/on,with the message PHONE MUTE.

Is the answer to disconnect the yellow mini iso?,or is that idea too childish.
Would appreciate any help on this one.
The car is a75 facelift tourer

It may be that the K-BUS signal is being sent to the wrong pin on on the connector which is causing a speed-signal to be mis-represented as a phone-signal.

So in other words, yes - disconnect the yellow ISO plug (or whatever the K-BUS signal goes thru) and seee what happens.

K-BUS is a signal sent through a wire to most of the cars systems. It's like a computer connection that allows data to be shared amoungst all the cars ECU's etc.

Part of the K-BUS signal is a road-speed readout which is used (for amoungst other things) speed-sensitive volume on your Symphony. If this signal is being sent to the wrong connector then the Symphony will think it means something else.

Thank you for that Simon, went out this afternoon and pulled the thing out of the dash, only to find the only wires connected to the mini iso plugs are two blue/lilac blue/brown,to the green plug, none to the yellow. So thanks for explaining the K.bus thing,is it just a case of snipping of the K.bus wire and how will I know whitch one it is? I find it starts it's anticts,as soon as I put it in gear(auto).thanks for your time.

Regards Tony Lewis.

I wouldn't just snip the wire willy nilly. Best to make sure the mini ISO blocks are in the correct order in the back of the Symphony.

I'll do some research then post back here with my findings (unless someone beats me to it...)

I don't know if it is the same for the Japanese models, but with ours, the phone mute signal is on pin 1 of the grey ISO plug, Red/Green cable, when it is connected to earth, it switches off the speakers and the radio displays 'Phone Mute'. Nothing to do with the K-Bus.

Could be a stray earth connecting to pin 1 (if it is the same as ours.)
