Default Air Con Problem

Hi

Can any one offer me advise please. My MG ZT Deisel Auto has had no problem "blowing cold" since new. It is a 2004 54 plate.

Today...the hottest day of the year so far......its had decided to stop working. Everything seems normal however. When you switch the air con on ,the revs drop for a second as it used to and you can hear the compressor going. I can't smell that special smell associated with it when you swich it on and off however. It was last working a couple of weeks ago. It has been said that it may need regassing but I thought this would be a gradual process in that it would not be as effective as time went on and not an instant thing. Could it be electrical ,like a blown fuse or something.

Yours...boiling over

Thread needs moving as it is in the V8 section.

EDIT:
As requested, thread moved to Technical Help Forum for greater exposure

Back to it, is the cooling fan operation ok and what temperature are the air con pipes under the bonnet.

The cooling fan is fine.....the pipes are NOT cold under the bonnet they used to be cold and covered in condensation when air was on!

Sounds like a re-gas job, when did you last have it service?
