help its sledgehammer time
hi
before i take a large hammer to my ztt! today after finiding out my ir sensor is missing for the head unit so no point in buying a kenwood i finshed fitting the illuminated sunvisors brill then put in a new cd player all worked fine until here we go! i thought to tune in the radio etc result it will not work! no power on the leads checked the fuses all good traced the wiring as far as i can by this time i now have the facia out plus the glovebox oh such joy checked the main fuses all good i am now stumped anybody got any ideas hidden fuses etc or how big a hammer to use |

Hi, did you just unplug the old one, fit an adaptor lead and fit the new radio?

hi
yes just unpluged the old unit connected up the new it worked powered up played a cd etc fitted into the dash then left it as we had to go out came back switched it on or tryed to nowt dead as a dodo fuses ok

try simple things 1st
take out the head unit, if it works out of the dash you are shorting it somewhere, maybe crushing the wiring. would guess youve tried this but i like to start with the cheapest easiest first also whilst its out check the fuse on the back of the head unit (if it has got 1) Last edited by Tommo; 7th June 2010 at 17:58.. thats what i thought, take it out and see if it works again, if it does then you have got the prob narrowed down. see if there are any splits in the wires and when it is installed then the connection is lost thus no power

hi it all worked fine i admit did not try in dash but i have checked all wiring just to see but this is the rub there is no power to the leads anyway have booked it in at electrical engineer in bury st edmunds tomorrrow morning now where is that hammer oh bye the way my car has bmw iso ie round pin which i am not using it also has the norm ie standard conectors is this a add on? if somethink has been broken? oh there no power to the bmw round pin connecter either methinks thinks this is a disaster did area.they come with both?

yes had all that out took the eyebrow right out and the head unit and the facia panel nothink gave up on that that so thought i would fit a new pioneer unit it worked! now it it has failed all fuses ok but this is it unplugged the head unit tested the feed wires no power but the wires look good as far as i can see
