Thats what I thought. Have no idea where to start with the wiring and just waiting for an email back regarding postage costs.

That's eiher a Xtrons or Erising unit. I have (had) an Xtrons TD714G which is very similar but has GPS. The unit worked fine, but could not get the steering wheel controls to work and two months on the touch screen stopped working. I bought it because it was shipped from the UK and had a "UK service centre". This turned out to be an address in a self-storage wharehouse in London! Five weeks later I am still waiitng and Xtrons do not reply to emails, they don't have a phone number and I have written them a letter rejecting the unit and requesting a refund.

I think the problem with all of these units is that when they work they are fine, but the backup and service side of things is dire!

I also have the same xtron and it works fine but two other local members have have problems with their xtrons and have been sorted with a downloaded file from xtron with an up grade of soft ware. But like most things you get owt for nowt and the xtron is over a £100 cheaper than Radio guys units but they also have had their problems. I think the main thing is with radio Guy he has good UK (Tony Fry) back up. If however any unit has to go back to china its a pain and can be fraught with problems.

I think if I could start again I would go for the radio Guy unit in place of my extron but hey ho. Scorpio stu at that price its worth a punt go for it and good luck. Remember even the BMW units at three and four time the price also have duff sets and if you happen to get a duff unit at any price its pain in the *************

First post for me, bought a ZT CDTI 135 couple of weeks ago to replace my 420 SDi.

Spent last couple of weeks lurking and absorbing knowledge.

Anyway to the point!

DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT FROM LIGHT IN A BOX.

I did, ordered last Friday it came yesterday, including shipping £126 then there was £29 for VAT and fees paid to UPS, not so cheap anymore.

Wired the unit up yesterday it worked fine for an hour then a smell of burning and it died.

Contacted LIAB box about a return, I have to return at my own expense which is looking like £50 in shipping costs and I've got 30 days to return it or the return is invalid. If there are any import duties back into China then LIAB won't pay them and the parcel will stay on hold with no refund. If LIAB engineers think it was my fault the unit died (why do I think this is likely I'm not sure ) No refund.

Done up like a kipper really.

About steering controls, if you are on the IR controls unwire the black box at the back of the hole that the stereo goes into, cut the three wires that feed into it (leave enough length to reconnect if anything goes wrong, IE like it did for me). Connect the black wire to the steering wheel ground, the blue wire to the Key1 wire. DO NOT connect the green wire to anything it's a live feed and its not needed. I did the above and steering controls programmed and worked fine.

Cheers

Ian

Default Xtrons Contact

I managed to find a number on the internet for one of UgSage's operatives (they own Xtrons and others). He was a bit more help than anyone at Xtrons support. Try ringing Anthony on 07838120446. He may well be able to help. I had to resort to a threat of legal action to get mine replaced!
