Car locks with remote but button wont pop up when unlocking but can be still be opened from inside as normal.
Are the solenoids expensive new or is it an ebay job? |

Just bought a lock/actuator off eBay for £17 delivered so Ill take some pics when I do it.
In the meantime is there a good "how to" on removing the door card etc as I don't want to damage it. |

Had the same problem. To Summarise my symptoms:
Door locks OK on remote Door does not lock with the rest of the car @ 5mph or so door does not unlock on remote door will unlock using interior handle When unlocked door will open from outside. I have just replaced the lock mechanism and all seems fine. Paul. |

New door lock/actuator arrived so set about replacing my old one. In all this took me just over 1 hour.
Actually quite a bit larger than I imagined. Remove the screw from the door pull handle Lever up the electric window switch And unplug According to the manual there's 8 clips round the edges of the doorcard plus a clip in the middle - I've marked the approx location. I used a flat edge to get the first one loose then just tugged as hard as I dared round the edges until each one popped. You do have to pull surprisingly hard though. The top edge has to be shunted in a bit of an upwards direction to loosen it. Once loose give it a bit of support for any wires etc still connected. You should be able to pop the door handle out towards you then turn it on its side and pass through the hole. The centre clip stays put on the door (marked by arrow) I used thin nose pliers to pinch the bottom tab closed then pulled it off with my other hand This is where it belongs - just slip it up back into position The door pull needs to be disconnected from its lead Just pull back the sheath then it slips through the slot and can be unhooked Peel back (be careful as it rips) the sound proofing trying to peel it where the yacky black stuff is so it can be stick back - you only need to do that corner area Now this is the most fiddly bit - you have to pull off the clip that connects the lock to the outer door pull - i used some thin nose pliers to knock it back Then the rod can be pushed out altogether Once youve done that undo the 3 torx screws holding the lock to the dor frame This should allow you to lower it a bit (feed the door latch rod through the hole) which will make the plug accessible. Squeeze the outer edges together and disconnect. Voila!!! Reconnect everything up and put the lock back then test it works before putting all the door panel etc back. Other tips... You have to hook the door trim panel over the latch button which is fiddly plus also making sure the door handle is fed through the trim panel. Hook the top of the door trim in place first then just "thump" the door card back in place with the palm of your hand not forgetting to do the centre one too. Took me a few goes to get the technique right and also did manage to break one of the clips so will be fetching just the door card off soon to replace that. Nice one on the How To, it's the same lock on mine too thats gone.
I had a look at it when I changed my rear door speakers. The little green locator clip was missing and the knob fell through into the bottom of the door. I also found the clip wedged right down in the door cavity near the drain hole, was an absolute fiddly nightmare to do. I'll have to get to the scrappers or ebay to find the parts for the lock. |
