Was the old abs sensor on the front driver's side wheel drilled out? if so the magnetic ring on the wheel bearing may be damaged.

The speedometer runs off the driver's side front abs sensor. It happened to me a few years back, needed to change the driver's side front sensor and it had to be drilled out. Must have drilled a tad too far (was being very careful as well) or got dirt trapped around the ring as fitted the new sensor and had no abs warning etc but no speedo reading.
