turbo replacement
Hi everyone, I need to replace the turbo on my 53 plate 2.0 cdti, I'm struggling to source a turbo that says its for the 96kw (131hp) model. I can see plenty for the 85kw. Does anyone know if they are the same and the increased hp is just created with the engine setup or do I need to find a 96kw turbo?

Yes the turbos are the same. Why do you need to replace yours Bob? The diesel turbos are usually pretty much bulletproof.

Thanks for your reply Mike, my 75 is smoking a fair bit and my mechanic friend has checked it over and diagnosed it as the turbo, to be fair it’s done 170k now and 90 percent has been motorway so I’d expect the turbos been running most of the time.

The turbo should still be fine at that mileage, silly question but have you changed your pcv filter?

Mines done 171k and is fine. Check/change pcv filter check for injector leakback. Mine also has been remapped no problems.

Is it just black smoke?
A few basic things can lead to a smokey diesel: - blocked pcv filter - failed intercooler o rings - upper intercooler hose in poor condition - clogged egr value - clogged inlet manifold - vehicle needing general service |

These turbos amaze me Bob - mine has done over 419k miles and still running fine. Given the speeds they rotate at you'd think the seals would buy the farm a lot earlier. |
