This car is really starting to annoy me! ZT CDTi starting issues
Not had this car long and having a few issues, its had the normal fuel pump in the tank problem which was a temp fix by the RAC and was running ok. Last week I went to leave for London where I work full tank of Diesel and tried to start it and it just cranked over and refused to fire so no work for me! I changed the in tank pump for a new one and the under bonnet pump for a new one whilst I was at it, once finished it started and ran fine for a few days and then it refused to start again just cranking over and not firing up! Changed the Cam sensor and the crank sensor and it started up fine and also seemed to run smoother and better. Now went to start it as I'm going to London tonight and again its cranking fine but not starting! Anybody got any other suggestions on what the hell is wrong with this??? Feeling very frustrated and annoyed!!

Will it start and keep running if you use easy start?
It does sound a bit like a leaking injector though as Billy said... (and this could have been the problem all along) ... Last edited by James.uk; 2nd December 2013 at 14:05.. |

I haven't got any easy start don't like using the stuff, looks like I'm gonna have to buy a multi meter and follow the guide on here. May give the RAC a ring see if they will check it out. Looks like I may be getting the bus to London tonight! Oh joy!

Possibly mate, the fuel pumps were definitely knackered though as I can now here them working before I start the car. As a pre emptive thing anybody know best place to get injectors? Gonna see if anybody locally can recon them also.

Right the RAC guy has just been and it starts with easy start. He ran a diagnostics on the car and it came back with CAN CONNECTION ERROR if anybody has any suggestions on where the conection problem could be? Also when you switch the ignition on all the normal warning lights come on but not the engine management light? The light works as it can be activated by the diagnostics machine so the bulb has not been removed. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

The engine management light doesn't come on as an initial check on the earlier cars.
If it started with Easystart then worth doing an injector leakback test, as likely that one or more injectors are leaking. |

There's a nice easy method here - there are more complex ways, however this should give you a good idea if you have any bad leakback:
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?p=734920 New injectors are very expensive, I can get them however I'd recommend a refurb as you'll get much better value for money.
