Possibly, but that doesn't explain why I've seen other decatted diesels without the strong smell of fumes

Has your car been remapped like mine. Maybe this could have something to do with it ?
looks like I'm not alone with this issue, a few people on the facebook groups have also said they have the same strong fumes smell issue. One said his granddad's 75 was like it since new.

mine has been remapped (160) but I'm sure it already had a strong fumes smell before that.

Thats just a vac line - it's the metal sheathed one, looks a bit like chainmail, on the other side.

Mine can be a little smokey but I can't say I've ever noticed a particular smell - and back when I had a garage (those were the days) I often used to run it in there without noticing.

That ones blanked off with the EGR bypass I've fitted.

You couldn't leave mine running in a garage you'd choke yourself

Mine was blanked off, but I had a problem with the clamp breaking down so that it didn't seal properly.

Thanks Bob, mines not a diesel smell though its a strong smell of exhaust fumes and it's 100% coming from the tail pipes.

Thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Re-direct left in old. This may be the better forum as threads get ‘lost’ very quickly in the General Forum.

There is a flexi joint in the exhaust pipe where it goes down from the engine and turns under the body at the base of the bulkhead. Because it is a flexi joint sometimes it has a tendency to split. I had a 75 tourer before the ZT and I had fumes smell for a long time till I found it.
