lights
Hi All
I have searched through numerous threads but cannot find my problem. just recently my headlights and tail lights come on as soon as my ignition is on even though the light switch is in the off position. in switch position 1 the sidelights come on and in position 2 there is no change other than the main beam can be operated, all other lights work as they should and the car passed an MOT yesterday, just confused as to why this has just started to happen, any thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated Last edited by Tatty65; 8th January 2020 at 16:27.. |

Sounds like a faulty LSM? Electrics getting wet can cause the car to do odd things. Might be worth checking your plenum drains to ensure they're not blocked and filling the plenum chamber with water causing the ECU to get wet.
There's a video here on here to check and clean the drains: https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...&postcount=360 Also if you have the highline satnav head unit, it's also worth checking the boot spare wheel well isn't storing water due to leaking rear light seals, as the radio and video modules for the highline unit are located in the spare wheel well and if they get wet they can cause odd electrical issues. There is a dealer option to turn on daytime running lights which just basically switches your headlights on permanently but I don't think that turns on the tail lights as well. I've not played with the option myself so not sure how it works. But this option doesn't turn itself on so if it's only just started doing it then I don't think it will be this. |

The plenum chamber is ok, first thing I checked also changed the pollen filter while in there, not a nice job. No high line sat navs fitted. Boot does get some water in but not through the lights, sorted that one. Need to find where else it could get in, looked everywhere. It's a strange fault, but like I said it passed an MOT yesterday. Could be a stuck on lights relay.
Also the LSM as mentioned in an earlier post. Quite easy to remove to check the connector and to give it all a coating of WD40. |

I was lazy and ran my ZT through the car wash before taking it to a funeral a few weeks ago.
The next day I got a failed bulb warning light. The bulb was fine and the light went away. The next day the fuel guage started reading half full. The tank was full. Next start it went back to full. The next day there was another electrical gremlin but I've forgotten what it was. The plenum was bone dry as was the boot. No problems since, and no more automatic car washes for the ZT!
