Unfortunately cannot answer your question but suspect not...... I have always wondered if you could squeeze in an X5 drivetrain in a 260 ZTT body? A 3litre straight six unit with X drive would be fab imo.

As far as i know the only 4WD is the x power grey tourer factory prototype which was saved and is in good fettle. See below.

That 1 of 1 prototype is still alive and well. John Newey at Summit Garage still owns it.

As far as I know no other has ever been produced.

I'm surprised no one else has made one as I think most if all parts are from a freelander? think the engine, gearbox, driveshaft diff etc were all from a freelander in this one.

I take it you haven't owned a Freelander long term then Rick?

There are far better 4x4 drivetrains out there. Over time the viscous coupling stiffens up and that puts a strain on the entire system and can wear out the IRD gearbox and rear diff.

The Freelander 2 haldex differential would be an improvement, but they aren't without their own faults.

no never owned one in terms of difficulty was thinking the freelander system would be the easiest to try and fit? since it's already been done before as well.

wonder if the freelanders owners club would have come up with a fix for the problem by now?
