Default Changing Instrument Clusters

Hi,

I have a MG ZT 180 with a YAC05000 instrument cluster including the IPK.

Looks like a spiked the eprom as took it out to fix the IPK and foolishly did not disconnect the battery.

Anyway I can't seem to find a YAC05000 on ebay, but other models with the IPK will these retrofit into my car or are all the readings going to be screwed up as its not calibrated to a V6 Auto?

Also will the dash have my old mileage or that of the car the replacement came from.

I am located in Crawley West Sussex.

Other IPKs will fit, may involve having to swap the clock faces over but even with the correct IPK its not a straight swap, you need to speak to one of the guys with a T4 MGR computer. The eeprom in the replacement IPK has to be virginised (existing info cleared) then programmed to your car or it will cause all kinds of problems. The usual method is to copy the info from the original eeprom but if it is corrupted that may complicate matters.

In addition to the T4 guys Rick-Sta may be able to help.

Hi Gary,

you don't need to buy a replacement instrument cluster, what you need to do is have yours virginised and then programmed back in with a t4 or toaf to register the correct mileage. That will fix your mileage issue. I take it as the problem you're having is you've got 999999 showing as the mileage?

Otherwise if you purchase a replacement cluster, you'll have to get the replacement cluster virginised to put it into a "new" state with 0 miles on the clocks, and it will then need to be programmed to your car to register the correct mileage on the instrument cluster. So by having your own current clocks virginised, you save on the cost of buying a replacement which you dont need

I'm based in thurrock, Essex so I can do it for you, or if you're ever in Milton Keynes Phil Davies can do it for you as well

Hi Gary,

to help clear things a bit when taking about instrument packs...

IPK is the instrument pack no matter the number or model
The units with the pixel driven screen are IPK's with Message Centre (the screen).

as previously said by steve and rick, a simple reset of a base program and re install should sort you out in a matter of minutes...
